Privacy Policy
Last updated October 16, 2026
This policy explains what uqaala.com ("uqaala", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. In short: pages are public because their owners publish them; we collect as little as we can about everyone else, and we never sell data or show ads.
If you visit a page
- We don't set cookies for visitors or use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- When you open a page, save its contact or tap something on it (like call, text or a link), we add one to that page's daily total. We don't store your IP address, device or anything else about you with these totals.
- To count visitors and tell new visitors from returning ones, we record your IP address with the date of your first and latest visit, the number of days you visited and how many pages you loaded. Nothing else is recorded with it: not your device, browser, location or the pages you looked at. We use it only for these counts and to stop abuse, and delete it a year after your last visit.
- To stop abuse, our server briefly keeps IP addresses in memory to limit how many requests one address can make. Our hosting may keep standard web server logs, including IP addresses, for a short time for security and troubleshooting.
If you register a page
- Your phone number and the text message you send us to register or sign in. We use the sender's number and the code in the message to confirm you control the number. Registration codes expire within minutes and are deleted afterwards.
- Your page content. Everything you add to your page (name, business, email, website, address, hours, links and so on) is public: anyone with your number can open it.
- The directory and search engines. Only if you choose "List my page in the uqaala directory and on Google" can people find your page by searching part of a number on uqaala, like 613 262, and can search engines like Google show it in their results. Unlisted pages ask search engines not to index them. It's off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time; search engines may take a while to drop a page they already show.
- Your owner email, if you add one. It stays private unless you also put it on your page. We use it only for sign-in codes and links, and security notices, such as a sign-in, an email change, a reset request or a deletion.
- Security records. For registrations, sign-ins, email changes, resets, linked-number changes, deletions and page saves, we record the time, IP address and browser (user agent), and a copy of your page each time you save it. We use these only to protect owners and investigate abuse or takeovers.
- Cookies. Owners get a sign-in cookie, and short-lived cookies while registering or signing in. They're needed for the service to work; we don't use them for anything else.
- Stats. The daily totals for your page are shown only to you.
- Linked numbers. If you link your number with another, both pages show each other's number, business name and first address line.
If you ask for uqaala in your country
We keep the country and email you give, and your IP address (to stop abuse). We use your email only to tell you when uqaala works in your country, and delete your request whenever you ask.
How we use information
To run uqaala: publish pages, verify numbers, sign owners in, send security emails, show owners their stats, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. We don't sell personal information, share it for advertising or build profiles of visitors.
Who we share it with
- Everyone, for the content you put on your page.
- Service providers that help us run uqaala, such as our hosting provider, our email delivery provider and the carriers and services that deliver the text messages you send us. They may only use it to provide their service to us.
- Authorities or others when the law requires it, or when needed to protect people's safety or rights, or our own.
- A buyer or successor if uqaala is sold or merged, under this policy's protections.
How long we keep it
- Your page and owner email: until you delete your page, or a reset of your number completes.
- Registration codes and emailed links: minutes to hours, then deleted.
- Daily stats: up to about 13 months, then deleted.
- Visitor IP addresses: a year after the last visit, then deleted.
- Security records: kept to protect owners and investigate abuse. When you delete your page, the copies of your page in them are erased; a record that the page existed and was deleted remains.
- Backups may keep deleted information for a limited time before they're overwritten.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your page or change your owner email at any time from your page editor.
- Delete your page at any time from your page editor. This removes your page, owner email, stats and linked numbers, and signs out all your sessions.
- Can't sign in? Request deletion by email instead.
- Depending on where you live (for example, under Canada's PIPEDA or provincial laws, or US state laws such as California's), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to complain to a privacy regulator. Email us to make a request; we may need to confirm you control the number first.
Requesting deletion
If you can't delete a page yourself, email contact@uqaala.com with the subject "Deletion request". This applies if:
- you own a page but can no longer sign in, for example because you lost or changed your number;
- a page shows your personal information without your consent;
- you want us to delete other personal information we hold about you, such as your owner email or security records.
Include the phone number of the page and what you'd like removed. To protect owners, we confirm requests before acting: we may ask you to text from the number, reply from the page's owner email, or give other reasonable proof. We respond within 30 days. We may keep a minimal record of the request, and information we're legally required to keep.
Where it's stored
Information is stored and processed in Canada and the United States, where our providers operate. It's protected by encryption in transit (HTTPS), limited access and signed sign-in cookies.
Children
uqaala isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has registered a page, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we'll say so on the site or by email.
